Bronwyn’s DG Partner’s Project — Lifeline.
My thanks again for the overwhelmingly positive response I have received from you all in choosing LIFELINE as my (our) project for the year ahead.
LIFELINE not only provides 24 hour a day telephone crisis support throughout Australia, but proactively works to diminish human crises and enhance quality of life with a full range of programs, support materials and initiatives. Our project (LIFELINE) supports Phillip’s focus for 2019 – 2020: “Rotary Strengthening Local Communities”. It aims to support and strengthen the community throughout District 9650 as it listens carefully to individual and community needs and responds appropriately to crisis.
Government funding for LIFELINE is limited, and LIFELINE Mid Coast relies on 97% of their services being funded by their Lifeline shops and the generosity of community members. I am hoping our clubs will assist in raising funds
1. Scholarships for additional 24 hour telephone crisis support personnel - so that those in crisis will have their calls answered as quickly as possible
2. Providing community based Training and Follow-up Support throughout our District for local community members - to enable them to listen, respond and support their friends, family and community members appropriately - especially in our drought affected areas.
