Home visits. It is good to be home for a week and I enjoyed my own club meeting on Wednesday morning. An exciting event for our club this week – we had our first baby! Well at least our club member, Renee Verrier, produced her first child; Max Edward will be a future Rotarian we hope. RYLARians will know Renee as Renee Smoother, and she and husband Peter are a bit chuffed with themselves right now.
I'm in the car trying to type this with a computer on my lap, on our way back from Tamworth. With our visit to Tamworth West last night, we have now completed visits to all five Clubs there. How different they all are – 'vive la difference' I say. The two breakfast clubs have members who are a lot younger; the average age of Sunrise is 49. And these clubs are doing interesting things over and above their breakfast meetings ...
For the past week or so, we've been in Dorothea Mackellar country in and around Gunnedah - it sure is a heartbreakingly sunburnt country at the moment. We've had the drought; and now we need those flooding rains. They are used to both out here, but right now, the drought is biting hard.
