Background: I spent my youth in the small town of Milton on the south coast of NSW.  I completed a degree at the University of New England Armidale and taught for 13 years. Heather and I have 3 daughters and have an active life balancing work, Rotary and motorcycles. We are partners with my brother in a Furniture One retail store in Taree.

Rotary:Our family’s interests have been centred on mentoring young people and hosting Youth Exchange students. I have been a Rotarian for over 20 years and have held most Club portfolios. Two of the most rewarding International experiences I have enjoyed have been to be a member of a Fourth Avenue In Motion team to the Solomon Islands and to lead a Group Study Exchange team to Germany in 2009. At District Level I have been involved as Community Services Director, Australian Rotary Health Chairman, Group Study Exchange selection several times and umpteen other committees. Most recently I have been Assistant Governor and Club Services Director.

The Future: In 2012/13 I will lead our District as Governor. I look forward to following Barry and will focus on several specific areas of our 9650 Rotary future.

Firstly; to encourage each and every member to maximise their enjoyment and productivity in Rotary.

Secondly; to assist Clubs develop a strong succession plan for their future Presidents and Directors.

Thirdly; Ensure our Membership grows. (I will judge myself harshly on this point.)

Finally, to scrutinise every process we undertake in Rotary and question its relevance to the Rotary of the future. To paraphrase our current International Zone 8 Director Stuart Heal

“…....To never let process get in the way of the best outcome ….... “

The Team: If you would like to be part of the District Team in the next Rotary year you already have the full qualifications now … you are a Rotarian. Contact me and let’s talk!

At Club level speak to your current President and put your hand up to get involved or ask an experienced Rotarian to train you with the skills you need to have to be on the Club Board.

My philosophy:“The Me I see … is the Me I’ll be”
