Invitation to the Conference
Fellow Rotarians
On behalf of the District 9650 Conference Committee I am delighted to invite you, your partners and guests to attend the 2012 Sapphire City Rotary District 9650 Conference in Inverell
Conference is a wonderful opportunity to re-focus on why we are Rotarians, to hear some insightful speakers and to learn more about the many ways that Rotarians are making a difference, both in their communities and in the wider world. It is also a great time to catch up with Rotary friends, old and new alike.
This year’s conference speakers include the General Manager of Commercial Operations at Elders Limited, Miriam Silva an incredible lady who will leave you both inspired and entertained. Other great speakers include the accomplished speaker on Mental Health, Associate Professor Rick van der Zwan who is the Director of Cognitive Neuroscience Research Centre at The Southern Cross University in Coffs Harbour; Lucy Wedlock, a local girl, who through being involved with Rotary’s National Youth Science Forums, is now Director of Public Relations with the Australian National University in Canberra; Jon Taylor who has spent many years with CARITAS (an international aid organisation) in such countries as Afghanistan, Iraq, East Timor and many African countries; Gemma Sisia a ‘girl’ from the Inverell area who is famous for being the founder of the School of St Jude in Tanzania, and Garry Lowder who is managing Director of Malachite Resources.
Representing Rotary International President Kalyan Banerjee, we are privileged to have, Past Rotary International Director, Dr John Thorne AM.
Registrations will open in a few weeks and there are two very good reasons why you should register early. Firstly to be in the draw for the “District Conference Sapphire” you must register by the 17th February 2012. Also, accommodation in Inverell will be stretched to the limit during Conference and you will need to book and pay early to secure accommodation. (Please see the attached Inverell Accommodation Guide)
Rotarians with caravans and campervans are asked to make the trip to Inverell with them and stay in one of our great facilities. You will be well looked after and it will help us provide as much accommodation as possible.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Sapphire City.
Robin Archer
Conference Chairman
